"I went there with my daughter when she was an exchange student in Eschwege Germany. If you have any interest in the Cold War, this place is a must! This former US base was right on the old border, through the middle of the base there was a red line with a warning sign- 50 meters from the border. The reason? Moving an armored vehicle over that line would be a provocation. One of the many fascinating details I learned visiting there."

"Great place to share with friends and family about our mission on the Inner German Border separating East and West German. This museum is dedicated to the contributions made first by the US Army's 14th and secondly by the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiments.
The inner German border was not completely abandoned until 1 July 1990, exactly 45 years to the day since its establishment, and only three months before German reunification formally ended Germany's division.
There is another museum, a short walk, or drive, that is built over high speed patrol road that was on the Soviet side.
The only recommendations I can make are, more signage written in English and possibly a reduced price or complimentary entry for those who can show they served there."
