What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Historical Archives Museum Hydra to be a valuable stop for understanding the island's maritime history and its role in Greek independence, appreciating the artifacts and the cool respite it offers. However, the lack of translations for many documents and strict closing times are noted drawbacks.
"It's OK, but this is a very old-fashioned museum. Full of weapons, uniforms and paintings of rich people. Big display of letters and documents is inaccessible because there are no translations. Little on social history, ordinary lives. No photography permitted."
Doug Neilson
"You should definitely visit this exhibition if you come to Hydra!!!"
Nik K
"Only a 4 star because I wish it was more than a Military Museum. Lots of history with information about generals etc. interesting clothing from different periods. On the third floor there were clay pots from 18BC found on Hydra. We visited for about 2 hours."
