Vasilis Tsapalis

"We had our wedding at Tatoi Estate and everything was fantastic. The beautiful large area of the estate with the well-kept garden, the elegant aesthetics and the tranquility it exudes, created an ideal setting while the space is also excellent for children.

Our collaboration with Vasiliki was more than impeccable. With professionalism and genuine interest, she guided us through every step of the organization, answered all our questions promptly and made sure that we had exactly the experience we had dreamed of. Every detail was organized in such a way that we felt confident and relaxed on the wedding day. Overall, the atmosphere was excellent and the location unique!

The menu prepared by Intercatering was truly excellent. The dishes impressed all the guests with highlights of the menu being the suckling pig and the roasted lamb with fava beans!"

ALEX MARGARIS

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

The History of Tatoi Estate

The Tatoi Estate (also known as the Royal Estate of Tatoi) was once the beloved summer retreat of the Greek royal family. Spanning a vast area north of Athens, it was acquired by the monarchy in the mid-19th century and developed into a sprawling complex of palaces, residences, and service buildings. The estate was a place of leisure, hunting, and important family gatherings for decades.

Following the abolition of the monarchy in Greece, the estate fell into disuse and suffered from neglect and fires. However, significant restoration efforts are currently underway, led by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture. These efforts aim to preserve the historical structures and natural beauty of Tatoi, making it accessible to the public once again. Visitors can witness the progress of this ambitious project, offering a unique perspective on the estate's revival. Instagram

The estate's history is intertwined with the modern history of Greece. Its grandeur and subsequent decline reflect the changing political landscape of the country. Exploring Tatoi offers a tangible connection to this past, allowing visitors to imagine the lives of the royals who once resided there amidst the serene natural surroundings. Instagram

Exploring the Natural Beauty

Beyond its historical significance, Tatoi Estate is a haven of natural beauty. The estate is characterized by extensive forests, primarily pine and cypress trees, interspersed with open meadows and rolling hills. This diverse landscape provides a refreshing contrast to the urban environment of Athens.

One of the most enchanting aspects of Tatoi is the presence of wild deer that roam freely throughout the grounds. Spotting these graceful creatures in their natural habitat is a highlight for many visitors and adds a touch of wildness to the experience. The estate also boasts a variety of flora, with seasonal wildflowers adding splashes of color to the scenery. Instagram

The well-maintained paths allow for easy exploration, while the open spaces are ideal for relaxing and enjoying the fresh air. The tranquility of the estate makes it a popular spot for locals seeking a peaceful escape from the city.
