What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Vai Palm Beach is celebrated for its surreal beauty, dominated by Europe's largest date palm forest meeting the turquoise sea. Visitors praise the clean waters, interesting seabed for snorkeling, and well-organized amenities like parking and beachfront dining. While it can get crowded, arriving early or visiting on weekdays enhances the experience.
"Surreal beautiful beach surrounded by cliffs and date palm trees. The forest is UNESCO protected. Clean and warm water, as sea floor is covered by sand and large rocks makes it interesting for snorkeling. There is a view point on top of a cliff on the right of the entrance, which gives view from above and is good for pictures. Two types of sun beds, priced 15 and 30 euro for a set. Large free zone as well. There are also reasonably priced restaurant and cafes. Large well regulated parking available, 3.5 euro for whole day."

"Superb location! Beautiful beach with fine sand. Very comfortable sunbeds for rent at affordable prices (between 15 and 40 euros for 2 sunbeds + umbrella in August). Good food! Impeccable service! Prices reflect the quality of the service! Perfect for staying for a whole day. Excellently organized parking, with plenty of spaces. Parking price: 3.5 euros/day. To get a place on a sunbed during the season, we recommend arriving by 10:00. It is possible to make a reservation for sunbeds."

"Vai Beach is absolutely gorgeous! The palm grove right by the shore makes it feel really exotic, and the mix of palms, golden sand and clear water is just amazing.
We came on a weekday around 11:00 and there were still plenty of free sunbeds and parking spots. By noon though, it started to get a lot busier, so it’s worth coming earlier if you want a more relaxed vibe.
Near the entrance you can rent the fancier sunbeds with soft mattresses (20–40€), but they’re quite close together. If you walk a bit further, the simpler ones (15€) are more spread out and give you extra space and privacy.
The beach is a great spot for swimming, chilling out, snapping photos or trying water sports. There are also two places to eat - one with proper Greek dishes and another for quick snacks and drinks. Parking is easy, well organized, and only 3.50€ for the whole day.
Honestly, if you’re in this part of Crete, don’t miss it!"
