The drive can be challenging with narrow roads, but the peaceful atmosphere and proximity to beautiful beaches make it a recommended stop for those exploring the area.
"Another amazing find. You need to take your time to understand and and walk around the grounds. But it is free. This is a bit of a drive and you have to watch your directions. Also know that times the roads are fairly narrow, even for Crete standards There are also 2 beaches on either side. Note that the one on the right is a “naturists” beach but it has a sign informing that."

"Interesting historical place worth visiting, when you are around (for example on Vai beach). The downside - there are absolutely no info on this place, there are just two information signs “Ancient town of Itanos” and “Itanos Doric City” next to the parking area. So you see there probably thousands years old aquaducts and various buildings with no additional info."
Martin Bôrik
"Itanos isn't Minoan, but has some really nice older (roman/byzantine/newer?) columns and relics that are interesting and well-preserved. Accessibility is good, and with the breeze blowing in from the beach, you can comfortably visit even in the middle of the day. A visit to the nearby beaches is also nice, but there are no facilities."
