What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
While the Museum of Cretan Ethnology offers a unique and interactive glimpse into Cretan culture, its inconsistent opening hours and cash-only policy have led to disappointment for some visitors. When open, it's praised for its authentic artifacts and hands-on exhibits, providing good value for money.
"Unfortunately, the museum was closed, — even though Google Maps clearly showed that the museum was open. It was really frustrating because we came by bus and then had to take a taxi to reach the archaeological site."

"I love visiting local museums, and this one is as good as any. Discover Cretan culture and traditions with a variety of artifacts and stories across two floors. Payment is cash only, but at only 5 euros each, represents good value and a welcome escape from the outdoor heat. Not easy to find on Waze, but Google Maps will get you there. No on-site parking, but follow the signs to the free parking area in the south of this little village."

"As other reviewers have noted, this museum is sadly no longer in operation. We turned up at 12pm on a Tuesday and it was closed and seemingly abandoned. Another couple of tourists was also there for the same reason and found it closed. The owner of the shop across the road said that, as far as he knows, the museum is now permanently closed."
