What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking panoramic views from Victoria Peak, especially the iconic Hong Kong skyline. The historical significance of Pinewood Battery and the chance to see wild pigs are also highlights. However, long queues for the Peak Tram and the potential for foggy weather can detract from the experience.
"It's a bit of a hike to get to but well worth the effort. An interesting piece of Hong Kong history set in very beautiful surroundings. It's never too busy so its also a good lunch spot or just a peaceful place place to chill out."
Dave Turley
"Constructed in 1905, the main highlight of Lung Fu Shan Country Park is the remains of Pinewood Battery that was the highest coastal defence battery in Hong Kong sitting 307 metres (1,007 feet) above sea level looking out to the eastern waters. Pounded by Japanese artillery during WWII, there are 12 structures, including bunkers, a command post, and gun platforms and the place has also been turned into a picnic area. A worthwhile hike is to take a route up to the Peak from Central then on to the Harlech Road Fitness Trail through to Hatton Road that takes you to the historical site."
C
"Great little hike from the peak. Lots of down steps, would be a lot more challenging coming the other way. Good views to either side of the island. The ruins are worth spending a few minutes looking around and reading the signage. Kind of ironic that the look out is now totally overgrown and views are restricted from the lookout point."
