What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Széchenyi Thermal Bath is widely praised for its stunning Neo-Baroque architecture and the unique experience of its large outdoor pools, especially in winter. Visitors appreciate the therapeutic mineral waters and the sheer scale of the complex. However, some find it can get very crowded, particularly in the afternoons, and note that on-site purchases like towels and swimwear can be expensive.
"Széchenyi Baths is one of Budapest’s most famous thermal baths and it’s easy to see why, the outdoor pools, saunas, and spa facilities are impressive and a must-visit experience.
A FEW TIPS: make sure to bring your own slippers and towel, as they are mandatory and buying them on-site can be very expensive! Also, the baths are extremely popular with tourists and can get very crowded. If you prefer a more relaxing experience, try to visit on weekdays or early in the morning when it’s less busy.
Despite the crowds, it’s an iconic spot that’s worth experiencing for its unique atmosphere and healing thermal waters."

"People refer to this bath as a bit of a tourist trap but the reality is that all thermal baths across the city attracts tourists and are of a similar price. This bath however is one of the biggest and can hold the most number of people and is always busy.
There are however plenty of pools and spaces but it will still seem busy and there were just some places we didn’t get to experience (like the saunas) because it was just so packed. If you are not there early or arrive in the afternoon like we did you can forget finding any kind of ‘base’ location as all the sun lounges were gone and didn’t start to free up again until 5pm (ones in the shade). Therefore just think about having minimal items with you so you can just drop your flip-flops & towel on one of the racks as you flop in and out of the pools. You can also have your mobile with you so consider getting a waterproof case so you can hang it around your neck. All thermal baths are expensive for what they are but it is a worthwhile experience. If you want to swim on the lane swimming pool - caps are mandatory for women I believe. Our muscles and joints certainly felt a lot better after a couple of hours here and it was also very scenic. The experience was made better by glorious weather!"

"Amazing day here! Monday morning, booked online and arrived in express area.
It’s all very clean, it’s a big place and lots of people but it doesn’t feel claustrophobic.
You’re able to bring your own food/ drink just no glass.
Range of different pools make it enjoyable including the cold plunge.
I’d say get the locker hire as well for peace of mind.
Otherwise amazing experience - feeling relaxed"
