"Athanur Andalakkum Aiyan Temple
God: Andalakkum Aiyan
Thaayaar: Aranganayaki.
Mahalakshmi gives a garland to Bhrigu Muni, who came to see Perumal lying in the Paarkkadal. When Bhrigu Muni gave the garland to Indra, he placed it on his elephant Airavati, but the elephant threw the garland away. Bhrigu Muni got angry and cursed Indra that he would be reborn as a human on earth. Then, as per his advice, Indra asked Mahalakshmi to remove his curse, saying that she would incarnate as Bhrigu Muni's daughter on earth, and that Indra's curse would be removed when she saw her marriage with Perumal in that incarnation. According to tradition, Indra was freed from the curse of seeing the married form of Mahalakshmi, who was born and raised as the daughter of sage Bhrigu, at this temple.
Thirumangai Azhwar, who was engaged in the construction of the temple for Aranganathar in Thiruvaranga, was short of money. He prayed to Perumal and Perumal appeared in his dream and told him to come to Kollidakkarai and receive money. Thirumangai Azhwar also went to Kollidakkarai and met a merchant wearing a turban there. The merchant had an empty wooden stick, a book, and a pen. He told the Azhwar that Aranganathar had sent him to help him and said that if he measured the sand with that wooden stick as wages for the workers, it would appear as gold to those who worked sincerely and as sand to those who cheated by not working.
Similarly, when sand was measured with a wooden stick as a reward, for most people it was sand and for some it was gold. When those who received the sand came to beat the merchant, the merchant ran. The azhwar also ran after him. The merchant came to this temple and stood there, indicating that he had come as a merchant, and wrote on a book with a pen and instructed the azhwar.
To symbolize this, The Lord of this temple is in the posture of a man with a wooden stick under his head and a pen in his hand.
Pillars of salvation
In the Paramapatha, there are two pillars in front of Mahavishnu. It is believed that the soul that is freed from the human body attains salvation by embracing these two pillars. Two similar pillars are in front of the feet and head of the Lord in the Arthamandapam opposite the sanctum sanctorum in this temple.
It is also believed that if one circumambulates in even numbers, holds onto these pillars and gazes at the feet and face of the Lord, one will attain salvation and that unmarried people will get married."

"A Divya Desam Perumal temple.
We reached the at morning 7.30 am. The Bhattacharya was residing near to this temple. Even after several request (as many more visitors came) to him, he reached temple around 8.30 only.
But temple was opened and thayar Sanathi is closed and main Sanctum was put a cloth screen.
Shri.Seshadri, Bhattacharya was so rude and the local people also told me.
Temple is very well maintained. The watchman, sweeper and other staffs are so cooperative.
If Bhattacharya have no time, he can open the Thayar sanathi and open the cloth screen and close the main grill gate for the Dharshan of visitors.
Many people are came from very long distance with cabs and the temple priest are not at all cooperative for devotees."

"This is one of the DivyaDesam revered by Alzhwars. Lord Vishnu (Aandu alukum Ayan) is in Sayana Kolam along with Sri Devi, BooDevi and Lord Brahma. Lord Vishnu has 'Marakkaal' (used to measure rice or any other things in olden days) as pillow and holds Olaichuvadi and writing nail in his left hand. He is the governor who lists the good and bad of ones life and gives him materials with Marakkaal according to their deeds.
Kamadenu did penance on Lord Vishnu in this place and hence the name Aadanoor (Aa - Cow, tan - self, for - city). You can see Kamadhenu worshipping the lord in the sanctum.
After Lord Siva torn the head of Lord Brahma, the skull stuck to his hands. He asked Agni Bhagvan to burn the skull to ashes, but ended up in vein. To regain the lost energy, Agni Bhagavan prayed to Lord Maha Vishnu in this place to rejuvenate.
Also Brigu maharishi and Thirumangai Alwar is also seen in the Sanctum.
Thayaar here is named as Ranganayaki and the Urchavar is Ranganathar graces the devotees here.
You can find Lord Narashimar and Lord Anjaneyar in the temple."
