Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Lakshmi Narasimha Temple in Holenarasipura for its serene energy, peaceful idol, and ancient Chola architecture. While some note that maintenance could be improved for a major town attraction, most find it a worthwhile visit for its spiritual ambiance and historical significance. The temple's location near the Hemavathi river adds to its charm.

"Pretty famous temple in Holenarasipur, liked the energy and aura around the place. But considering one of the main town attractions this could have been maintained still better. Any how worth giving a visit and taking the blessings of Lord Narasimhaswamy."

"Sri Lakshmi Narasimhaswami temple is located in the township of Hole Narasipur in Hassan district. This temple is built in the Chola style of architecture and is believed to be built around 625 years back, although no ancient documents are available. Vasishta Maharshi is said to have visited this place and prayed to Sri Narasimha Swami by constructing a Parnashale near the Hangaramara tree, which is the current temple place. Sri Narasimha Swami is believed to have blessed him with his darshan on the early morning of Palguna Shuddha Poornima Puccha Nakshatra Day and asked him the reason for his penance. Vasishta Maharshi replied saying that he doesn't need anything for himself but requested Sri Narasimha Swami to fulfil the wishes of all the devotees who would come there to see him. For that reason, he also asked Sri Narasimha Swami to stay there only and he obliged.

The idol of Sri Narasimha Swami is a peaceful one and it sees Sri Lakshmi. This place is also called as Trikutachala because 3 Vishnu Gods are present here, namely Sri Lakshmi Narayana, Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami and Sri Gopalakrishna. Outside in the meeting hall, is the beautiful idol of Sri Prasanna Kamala Mahalakshmi. She is also the native Goddess of this village. The place where this temple is located is referred to as Kote. A Palegara by name Sri Narasimha Nayaka once ruled this place and this temple was renovated/restored during his time. The Navangana, Meeting Hall, Main Door Gopura were all constructed then and about 10 years back, the temple has been restored by the devotees. The idols of Sri Vinayaka Durgadevi, who are the Upasana Power dieties prayed to by Narasimha Nayaka, are present in the Navangana. The tradition of Rathotsava is observed on the same day as Vasishta Maharshi got the darshan of Sri Narasimha Swami, i.e Palguna Shuddha Poornima Puccha Nakshatra Day, which is around the Holi festival in March month of every year.

Poojas observed here follow the ancient Vaikhanasa procedures and 52 years back, according to the orders of the then Goverment, the idol of Vikhanasaacharya has been placed in the Prangana here. Other idols like Alwars, Sri Subramanyeshwara Swami, Sri Chikninunde Narasimhaswami, Sri Anjaneya, Garuda, Dwarapalakas are also

present in the Prangana. This village is also called as Bhakti Vardhana Kshetra which means a palce which increases devotion. Because of the presence of Hemavathi river and Lakshmi Narasimhaswami temple, this place got it's name as Hole Narasimhapura, which has eventually become Hole Narasipura.

"Great place of Shri LaxmiNarasimha. We visited on Saturday.
Very neat and clean temple.
While on the way to Madikeri (Coorg) ,we remembered that it is Saturday and we need to visit the temple of ShriLashminarasimha, which was our routine for years together.
Even the local driver was unaware of any temple. Thanks to Google Maps we noticed a temple at a detour of only 1 km .
We were very lucky to visit this temple !"
