Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the sacred and holy atmosphere of Ekvira Aai Temple, highlighting the rewarding spiritual experience after climbing approximately 500 steps. The temple is well-maintained and free to enter. However, some reviews note that the adjacent Karla Caves are not as impressive as the temple itself, and the temple's presence is seen by some as an encroachment on the historic Buddhist caves.

"Sacred and holy place. It is usually crowded and also when I visited although it was a week day. The place is well maintained and no entry fees or ticket is required. The temple is free of cost for darshan also there are karla caves just beside the temple within 1 min so that is something you can explore if you haven't seen. It requires an entry ticket but no need for advance booking as you can purchase the ticket then and there.

I would recommend visiting as not only you get to see the devi temple but also the tourist spot (the caves & museum).

Cleanliness is maintained and a queue is formed for taking darshan as each devotee gets their chance to greet the goddess.

I hope this review is helpful,
Thank you for reading ☺️,
Have a nice weekend 🌸."

"Extravagant experience! After climbing a fleet of approximately 450-500 steps when you reach to this place, the only feeling that strives in your mind is that god has made you for a reason and god has brought you to meet her here because she loves you. Climbing those steep steps is difficult but you never feel that pain as people along the way (may it be the small shop owners or your fellow devotees) will encourage you throughout. You’ll get a lot of cool beverage shops(buttermilk, lemonade, kokum sherbet etc) along the way so keep hydrating yourself. After reaching atop you get the magnificent view of a small temple nestled within Karla caves. History and devotions hits you together. Aai Ekvira Devi is roop of Renuka Devi and is worshipped by fishermen community of this area. We visited on a weekend and in afternoon hours, it took us nearly 2 hrs in the waiting queue to finally get darshan. But every minute was worth it as we saw the beautiful idol of Ekvira Devi. Highly recommended for visit, avoid weekends and holidays. Stay hydrated while climbing."

"This temple is an encroachment to a historic Buddhist Cave that is humongous in size & deep in history.

The cave is beutiful but the temple is Ugly, haphazard & unplanned, a stark contrast to the well built and well planned structure of the cave.

Ekvira is a classic example of encroachment by Brahminical forces on Buddhist establishments.

The structure has ruined an otherwise UNESCO world heritage site."
