Visiting Ireland in a couple weeks, looking for some hidden gems
My wife and I are traveling to Ireland at the end of October, and I am looking for some hidden gems to check out. Our homebase is Dublin, and we will be making a day trip to Belfast, and another to Glendalough. She always takes the reigns with vacations, but I want to try to…

What's everyone's take on Bray?
Im a northerner, and the only experience of Bray Ive ever had was from the Ross O'Carroll-Kelly columns and books by Paul Howard, where ppl he knows from Bray constantly have the caveat of 'being from Bray'. Stayed in Bray while we were on a school trip, ostensibly to Dublin,…
visiting churches in Ireland
Will be visiting from the States next month and one of our group loves to see churches. Are churches in Ireland open for people to walk in and quietly/respectfully take in the architecture/light a candle/say a prayer?

"Lovely old cemetery. Was hard to find what we were looking for as a lot of thumbnails are falling apart. Hard to walk through to some graves, not assessable to people with disabilities."

"St Peter's Church in itself is a beautiful little church, we were all baptised etc here, my nan used to love the church, in the past she always gave to the dues, collections & helped out too, sadly she passed away in January & none of our family were contacted to tell us that they had her months mind mass a week before it was her actual months mind, church goers we knew were actually wondering why my nan's family weren't at her mass, we went the following week at what would be her proper months mind & she wasn't mentioned, my aunt complained & they said that if we rang up we could organise another mass, we did this & they lied saying that they had contacted us in relation to her months mind mass which they didn't anyway we organised another mass for the following month for her, that day the mass wasn't offered for my nan though, they just mentioned her name to pray for her, I wasn't surprised anyway, look we have plenty of people who pray for my nan everyday so it doesn't matter but we all think it was a very UnChristian thing to do to a family, to lie to them & not inform them that they were going to celebrate her months mind a week before her actual one especially whilst her family are terribly upset & grieving.Personally I don't think Jesus would think that was very Christian of them to do that especially since they're meant to be working in his church."
