What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally praise Bormio's thermal baths for their beautiful mountain views and relaxing waters. The paid QC Terme facilities offer a luxurious experience, while the free natural springs provide a rustic charm. Some guests found the paid spas to be overcrowded and the staff overly strict, with pools not always feeling warm enough for a true thermal experience.
"Nice, clean and enjoyable enviroment. Enjoyed very much the warm water swimming pool and jacuzzi observing fantastic view of snowy mountains in front. Isnt that cool?
Lunch time went to the restaurant inside which is also accessible to people from tge street. So, I felt quite awkward sitting there with wet hair wearing wardrobe while others were dressed usual.
Food and service was good though.
Loved the experience. Recommend it!"

"Amazing and unforgettable, strongly recommended. There are several different pools with warm water, each one with different panoramic views in different floors. There are a lot of facilities for the families and their children to enjoy even for the whole day. In addition to that, there are also many different water message categories and trying all of them is really something. There is a semi Olympics pool for those who may feel the need of a bit more professional expectations. Last but not least, the covid measures are controlled and you have to have a green pass to enter."

Exploring Bormio's Thermal Heritage
Two primary paid spa experiences dominate Bormio: QC Terme Bagni Vecchi and QC Terme Bagni Nuovi. Bagni Vecchi offers a journey through history with its Roman baths and panoramic views, while Bagni Nuovi provides a more modern, luxurious spa experience with multiple pools and saunas. Both offer breathtaking vistas of the surrounding Alps, making for an unforgettable relaxation session.
For those seeking a more natural and budget-friendly option, the Pozze di Leonardo Da Vinci (also known as 'terme libere') are a must-visit. These free, natural hot springs are nestled in a forest and offer a unique, rustic bathing experience. While they lack the amenities of the paid spas, the connection with nature and the therapeutic waters are unparalleled. Remember to wear appropriate footwear for the sometimes rugged terrain leading to these hidden gems.
Planning Your Visit: Paid vs. Free Thermal Baths
The Pozze di Leonardo Da Vinci provide a stark contrast. These are natural, undeveloped pools where you can immerse yourself in the thermal waters surrounded by nature. They are free to access and offer a more authentic, wild experience. However, they come with fewer amenities – bring your own towels, water, and snacks. The path to reach them can be a bit challenging, so sturdy footwear is recommended.
Consider the time of year and day of the week. Weekdays and off-peak seasons generally mean fewer crowds at both paid and free locations. For the free springs, arriving early can secure a more peaceful experience. For the paid spas, check their websites for specific opening hours and any seasonal closures or special events.
