"Cugnolo Forest.
This green area takes its name from the district in which it is located, just a stone's throw from Torre di Palme: between the Cupo and Molinetto ditches. The forest sits atop a fossil dune dating back to the Pliocene, composed of marine sand and gravel sediments, due to the area's prehistoric existence below sea level. The rugged terrain, unsuitable for cultivation, prevented human deforestation. Cugnolo is considered a rare example of intact Mediterranean scrubland, and for this reason, it holds extraordinary botanical value. Several centuries-old oak trees, representing the majority of the evergreen species, are present, along with pines and junipers. The fauna present is very diverse; among the birds are bee-eaters and golden orioles, while among the mammals are badgers and foxes. The hike starts from the village, is about two kilometers long, and lasts about two hours. The route is easy and made accessible by fences and walkways installed by CAI volunteers, making it accessible even to inexperienced hikers. The trailhead is marked by a noticeboard with basic hike information and signs dotted along the entire route. Simply follow the wooden posts that mark the route, and when you're tired, you can rest at the rest stops equipped with tables, benches, and panoramic views. An unforgettable hike through the greenery of the forest, with views of Torre di Palme and the Adriatic Sea."

"A beautiful and enchanting place, reached by a relatively easy but rocky path. Once you arrive, you find yourself facing this cave, which makes you imagine the history that once lay there. It's part of the charming village of Torre di Palme, full of memories for me."

"Beautiful forest near the town. The only major drawback is the incessant highway noise. It drowns out everything and doesn't let you fully enjoy the quiet of the forest."
