"We got the bus up to the castle from Taormina and walked back down, so much nicer and better than waiting for the bus. The entrance is down the steps from the Duamo, follows sign for Chiesa di San Biagio. There are fountains on route but not all of them work so bring water! It's paved/steps nearly all the way down and took us about 45 mins, it's the most beautiful vistas and countryside, would defineltly recommend!"

"Instead of taking the bus back to Taormina, you can take this beautiful path down the hill. The views of the Ionian Sea and Taormina are breathtaking.
You will walk through fields filled with flowers and cactus and pass a cute little church.
The path is easy to walk but bring some water if you do it in the summer time.
Be prepared to take lots of pictures."

"We missed the last bus from Castelmola so decided to walk down the path - and unfortunately the pathway wasn't lit, the lanterns had no bulbs in, the pathway was pitch black, thankfully we used torches on our phone to see the way.
What I would say is I am sure that walking in the day / pre sunset would be incredible however anything post sunset I wouldn't advise, while there was steps, some barriers were missing and then part of the walk was rocky (50m) we were both very pleased to actually see civilisation."
