"And so, finally, last Sunday we managed to visit Ca' Roman, the southernmost part of the island of Pellestrina. It has a mostly naturalistic character 🌳 and, morphologically, a vaguely triangular perimeter profile. The connection to Pellestrina is ensured by the murazzi, imposing artificial seawalls made of Istrian stone 🪨 equipped with a characteristic walkway, while an ACTV stop allows you to reach the site by ferry ⛴️ directly from Chioggia (with the "Venezia Unica" card 🎟 you can also save significantly on ticket prices). This last solution is exactly what we opted for, which therefore allowed us to comfortably begin our tour 🚶🏻🚶🏻♀️ at 2:45 pm 🕒 (the crossing ⛴️ lasts just ten minutes as it is the first stop on line no. 11). As soon as we got off the pier we walked 🚶🏻🚶🏻♀️ along the walls (on the right there is also a bar/restaurant 🍽 and the entrance to the "Villaggio Marino Ca' Roman") reaching the start of the actual hiking trail. Once past the access fences, you'll find the information point ℹ️ on the left, a sort of wooden picnic spot equipped with a canopy, benches, tables, and explanatory panels 🪧 about the local flora 🌾🌳 and fauna 🦉🐦🐍🕷. A couple of signs, among other things, inform visitors that it's forbidden to use bicycles 🚳 and to provide food to cats 🐈🐈⬛ and seagulls. A little further on, at the first fork in the road, another panel 🪧 explains how Ca' Roman has significantly expanded over time due to the expansion of its coastline. Here we chose to keep right ➡️ following the outermost path, which, however, at a certain point is blocked by a gate near the monumental MOSE installation. It should be noted that, along the route, there are a couple of completely abandoned concrete structures that appear to be former military posts (however, there is no sign 🪧 or indication to confirm this). Returning to the crossroads, we continued along the other road, turning right again ➡️ at the next fork. Here we found ourselves in front of another concrete installation, even larger than the previous ones, which we also visited inside. Next, following the embankment walk, we first arrived at the two piers overlooking the harbor mouth (with a view 👀 of the Sottomarina breakwater) and then, crossing the public beach (very suggestive at sunset 🌅), around 5:00 pm 🕔 we finally reconnected to the sea walls, thus completing our tour 🚶🏻🚶🏻♀️. I would definitely like to return to explore the more internal paths as well. RECOMMENDED experience 👍🏻.
