Founded over the 13th-century Romanesque church, it was enlarged (from 1480) thanks to Prince-Bishop Johannes Hinderbach, who discovered the urn containing the ashes and soil of the Martyrs under the altar.
The Latin cross interior, with three naves separated by columns richly adorned with Gothic-Renaissance caps, creates a rarefied atmosphere, perfectly in harmony with the history it preserves.
