"Multiple trail options available for the hike. It's well connected to Tokyo via the Chuo line. Get down at the Musashi-Itsukaichi station and immediately one of the trail starts or board the bus that takes you to the start of a simple and shorter hike. It offers good view of the Tokyo city on a clear day. Fuji san make be only partially visible from this mountain."

"A very challenging climb for me since I’m a beginner. There’s a little bit of paved road at the beginning but after that dirt, rocks, mud, branches and so on. I highly recommend some kind of boots or something good for hiking. I did it in sneakers but fell twice on the way down and two days later I’m still sore because of the challenging climb. I decided to go from the trailhead bus stop and according to google maps it takes a little more than an hour but it took us double the time. On the way down it was accurate, we took about an hour and 10 minutes or so. Along the way there are no shops and toilets were hard to come by, they had them but I couldn’t find them. Anyway if you’re in the area check it out and also Mt. Mitake. I recommend asking the tourist office for advice since this might have been the hardest route. Good luck!"

"Next time, I’ll spend the night. So many side trails to explore. Didn’t have time for Mt. Asou (麻生山⛰) Met lovely people along the way including a mountain biker. It was rainy season and sure enough we got a mountain sprinkle atop 日の出山. Next time, I’ll bring my umbrella ☔️ Thank you, Japan! ⛩"
