"I walked there from Kameyama Station using my Nagoya Free Ticket.
It's about a 15-minute leisurely walk.
The Tamon Yagura Tower remains.
Castle seals are available at shops in the Kameyama Shopping Arcade.
There was a road that reminded me of the area's past as a post town on the Tokaido Road."

"Tamon Yagura is the symbol of this castle.
I visited this place in late November 2023 while exploring Kameyama-juku.
Under the Meiji era's castle abolition order, most of the buildings were demolished, the moat was filled in, and relatively few vestiges of the Edo period were apparent.
Even so, Tamon Yagura is the only core castle building in Mie Prefecture that remains in its original location, and its towering presence amid the high stone walls is truly impressive.
The day was a fun one, touring the neighboring Kameyama-juku and Kameyama City History Museum, and enjoying Kameyama's specialty, miso-yakiudon, for lunch."

amsang04

"Its official name is "Tamon Yagura."
It was apparently preserved when Kameyama Castle was demolished because it was still in use.
I had assumed it had been rebuilt, but when I looked into it, I found that this was not the case.
It is apparently the only castle building remaining in Mie Prefecture."
