"I used this ferry to head to Saigo Port on Ushiroshima Island, Oki Island. Apparently, if you're carrying a motorcycle as luggage, you need to call in advance. Once there, I filled out the motorcycle paperwork. The 9:00 a.m. ferry started accepting passengers at 8:00 a.m. Apparently, I needed my vehicle registration certificate at the reception, but they didn't ask me for it (perhaps because I'd called in advance). After checking in, I was told to go to the waiting area for vehicles as they would be boarding the ferry immediately, and then I boarded. I was in my cabin by 8:15 a.m. After this, I took two more ferry trips: Saigo → Beppu (Nishinoshima) → Sakai (mainland), but I couldn't complete all the paperwork here at once."

"I used this when heading to the Oki Islands by ferry.
I wanted to get a student discount on my ticket, so I inquired in advance and they were very helpful.
Tickets are sold one-way only, and there are various seating classes, but the cheapest is class 2, which offers a spacious seating area where you can lie back and relax on a pillow. The student discount is only available for class 2, but I highly recommend it, as you can get a one-way ticket for just 2,810 yen, instead of the usual 3,510 yen! ✨You don't need a student discount card; just your student ID is fine. Cards and cash are accepted.

You will need to use this ferry terminal when boarding ferries such as the Oki and Kuniga, which connect Dozen and Dogo with the mainland.
I don't know about weekdays or regular weekends or holidays, but I used it on the first day of the Obon holiday and arrived at the ferry terminal just after 7am, but the surrounding parking lots were almost full.
I was lucky enough to find a space available so I was able to park, but if you want to park near the ferry terminal, I recommend coming early.
During the summer holiday season, a temporary parking lot is set up a little further away."
