Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the unique architectural design by Arata Isozaki and the serene, artistic atmosphere of the village. The accommodation offers a comfortable and sophisticated stay with useful kitchen facilities. However, some found the exhibitions lacking, and the remote location means limited nearby amenities and a need for self-sufficiency.

"Went to see an art exhibition here. It was okay but kind of lacking."

Brian Bohrson

"I visited during the first half of Golden Week. There seemed to be a classical music training session that day, so practice was underway in each studio. There was also a public concert being held in the hall, which was great to be able to watch for free.
This hall is unique in that it has a stage and flat area where the audience seating is, and then there are seating areas that seem to be divided into random levels. This makes the space complex, which seems to be effective acoustically.
The entire building, with its volume control and sculptural style, which is Arata Isozaki's specialty, gives the impression of a temple in nature. The central section is also designed to look like an archaeological site.
It looks like a building from the bubble era, and a lot of money has been spent on the finishes. This is the first time I've seen a toilet finished with marble."
