Is Kichijōji worth visiting?

I'm playing around with my 5 day Tokyo itinerary, and I'm wondering if Kichijōji is worth half a day to replace Roppongi. I always see bad reviews about Roppongi, and people call it boring. I only added the place to see Roppongi Hills and Tokyo Midtown, thinking that it would…

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Inokashira Pond for its tranquil beauty and the unique charm of its swan boats, offering a peaceful escape within the city. The park's lush greenery and scenic views are highlights, though the water quality can vary, and it gets extremely crowded during peak seasons like cherry blossoms.

"At the heart of this park lies Inokashira Pond, a wide, tree-fringed lake that manages to be both tranquil & kitschy at the same time. On one hand, you’ve got the reflective waters, ducks & shaded paths that make for a peaceful stroll. On the other, you’ve got dozens of giant swan-shaped pedal boats gliding around like escapees from a carnival ride.

The pond dates back to the Edo period, when it supplied drinking water to the people of Tokyo (then Edo). Today it supplies entertainment: couples, families & tourists hopping into rowboats or swan boats, legs pumping furiously while they drift around in slow-motion circles.

Here’s the kicker: there’s a local legend that says couples who ride the swan boats together are doomed to break up. Blame it on the jealous goddess Benzaiten, who has a shrine nearby. So if you’re trying to test your relationship, this is one way to accelerate the results.

The water itself isn’t exactly pristine (algae blooms are common in summer) but the surrounding greenery makes up for it. On a sunny day, the pond reflects the sky beautifully & the whole area feels like a breather from Tokyo’s concrete and neon."

"Absolutely stunning landscape, there's a zoo in the park as well with a nice collection of animals."

"It was in February 2025. It is so beautiful pond with ducks in there. There is an entrance to Ghibli Studio/Museum. Lots of stores outside the parks. So do not worry if you are hungry or need sonething. You can enjoy the food in the park, too.

Eventhough there is very limit trash bin, but the park is so clean.

I bet it will be beautiful in Spring."
