"Peaceful hilltop temple. In early October, unfortunately we missed hydrangea garden which was completely closed, and lotus season had passed though you could see the plants in front of the main temple. There is a lovely view over lots of greenery which was just starting to turn yellow, would be lovely in a few weeks when leaves are red.
¥1000 entry fee charged at the bottom of the hill. Note that there are approximately 40 large steps to reach the top. Located in a quiet area of Uji, it is about a 30 minute walk through residential areas from JR Uji station."

"I visited in early June 2023 — a great time to see Japan’s hydrangeas in full bloom. Tickets are available at the entrance and they’re pretty affordable. The garden is spacious, filled with blooming flowers, and the ones along the stairs were especially lovely. I had such a nice time here."

"One of the main component of tourist attraction in Uji, Kyoto. I visit during the hot sunny day, yet many visitors still come to enjoy the beauty of this temple. You can pray here by buying the 100Yen incense. More, you can try to touch the egg in the rabbit stomach or cow's mouth. You can enjoy and have a bit walk around this place to observe the beauty."
