Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the breathtaking sunrise views and panoramic vistas from Phu Chi Fa, calling it an amazing and unforgettable experience. The cool season is highly recommended for clear skies. Some note the challenging, winding roads and the need for a headlamp for the pre-dawn hike to the summit.

"Such an amazing experience! Would recommend to come here in the cold season (November-March). If you come up here alone, the streets are only for advanced drivers since they are very windy and lots of sharp curves. If you want to go up the top of the mountain, best drive to the Pu Chi Fah Base (which is a parking lot) and walk your way up. There will be a second parking lot on your way which was under construction when I was there. Lots of people come here for the sunrise (better have a headlamp or a phone with lights on - they way is not lit when you come very early in the morning), but I guess the sunsets must be amazing as well."

"This is the border between Thailand and Laos, currently they are re-building all the buildings at the top parking spot so you have to park lower down and walk about 1 km to the top, it takes about 30 minutes.
The day we went was hazy but the views are still awesome."

Kevin G

"Amazing experience! Take a taxi from Chiang Rai (around 2 hours drive), there will be pick-up trucks to take you to the top (40 baht one way). Hike up for 20 minutes and enjoy the sunrise ☀️
Bring some warm clothes, it's quite chilly early in the morning."
