"The Uniqueness of Peranakan Culture
(Visited on September 11, 2025)
Speaking about Peranakan culture, Penang is widely known for has thriving Peranakan culture. The unique culture is well-preserved by government and locals alike, to the point creating a museum dedicated for documenting the life of being upper class Peranakan at Penang. In this case, specifically during 19th century to 20th century.
Situated at previously actual mansion occupied by Peranakan, Pinang Peranakan Mansion showcasing the interior of a house representing the lifestyle and culture of upper class Peranakan. Many things were displayed at the museum. Note that do not touch the display.
The interior was very beautiful, displaying distinct acculturation between indigenous and foreign culture, colorful, and complex design preference. This similar characteristics also can be found on some furniture.
The museum was large enough to accommodate large amount of visitors. No need to feel exhausted, as the museum was equipped with AC and fan."

"Worth to visit, ticket price includes 45 minutes with your tour guide (either English / Mandarin) in group, and then we spent total 3 hours here.
The building is big, and vibrant colors. Good for photography and history learning.
✅ RM80+ for baba and nonya costume renting. Many tourists like it and tried wearing. I would recommend overseas tourist should try the costume renting and get good phtography around the building. It's a culture experience. 👍🏻
I came here during non peak tourism season I guess, I didn't wait long here despite it is popular tourist spot. 😁"

"We visit on a weekday but the place is still busy. We waited 15 minutes to join a guided tour. Although the group is large and it could be crowded, I still find it’s interesting and learnt more about the place and its people. For the property itself, it’s a proper mansion with spacious rooms, court yard, ancestral shrine and attached maids corner and kitchen. There is an adjacent house that serves as jewellery and craft exhibition room. Overall it is a destination not to be missed."
