Reviews Summary
La Tourelle Mountain offers a challenging but incredibly rewarding hike with breathtaking panoramic views of the Mauritian coast. While the trail can be steep, rocky, and thorny, requiring good footwear and caution, the summit vistas are consistently described as spectacular and well worth the effort. Hikers recommend starting early and avoiding rainy conditions for a safer and more enjoyable experience.
"A slightly more challenging hike, where you also need to use ropes to climb up. Shorter people will definitely find it harder to come down. Proper footwear is a must, and I definitely don’t recommend going in the rain. It took us 1 hour and 10 minutes to go up, and about the same time to come down. At the top, you’ll find one of the most beautiful views of the south coast. There were no mosquitoes"

"I love Tamarin
It's my favourite place in the world.
I had the chance to hike La tourelle with my cousin. And what a Hike!!!
Please see the wonderful view you'll get. It was tiring and wow, so worth it!
P.s. must take a beer with you, when you reach the top, enjoy it!
Little tip, please go on time(12 pm -13pm) so you don't struggle to come back at night, since that was an adventure itself!! Unless you're a night hiker!"

"Not the best of routes, thorny, easy to lose track and definetly not easy. However the views are definetly worth it. I'd suggest to start of early during the day so as to make it down before you lose day light. It takes roughly an hour or hour and half for one way making the total trip to 2 or 3 hours up and down. Along the climb there are areas that'll require you to use the ropes that are already in place, trust them and climb carefully, however be careful of your getting cuts from the ropes during quick decent. Otherwise, definetly worth doing it once at least. Just be careful of the never ending thorns, but you should be okay and enjoy the hike."
