"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Truly Special Resort Experience
We visited this resort in June and absolutely fell in love with it. It is such a special place — not your typical flashy, soulless resort. The entire space is beautifully built to honor and blend into the lush jungle surroundings. You walk through paths surrounded by tropical plants, towering trees, and charming little animals roaming around, which adds so much magic and serenity to the experience.
The staff was truly amazing. Everyone we encountered was kind, polite, and always ready to help with a smile. The resort itself was spotless — the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-designed. I would personally recommend booking a room that’s either on the second or third floor, and ideally not directly on the main path for a more peaceful stay.
One of the things we loved most was the size of the resort — not too big, not too small — just perfect. It has a great beach, easy to access and never overcrowded. The food was really good too! The buffet is quite complete and fresh. I would recommend to add more "veggie meat", if you're vegan or vegetarian like us, we would have appreciate a few more options like tofu dishes or veggie meats (like veggie burgers or hot dogs), but overall, we ate really well throughout our stay.
The resort is located in a gated community in Playacar, which feels very safe and peaceful. You can take bike rides around or even walk to Playa del Carmen in about 15-20 minutes. They also offer a variety of excursions and activities — just make sure to confirm the full pricing ahead of time, as there can be some extra fees depending on the tour. And yes, be mindful of any travel company promotional speeches, stay smart and focused.
All in all, we had such a wonderful time. This resort has heart — a rare gem among all the bigger, over-the-top resorts that often lack soul and charm. I highly, highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a unique, relaxing, and nature-filled getaway in Mexico. 🌿🌞"

"I liked that the resort had lots of entertainment which suited all ages. The cocktails were amazing and a huge selection. The pool is lovely and always clean. I recommend the reef playacar to anyone visiting Mexico. Elena is amazing she works as part of the entertainment team and she’s been such a friendly person to see around the hotel."

"I hope that sharing my experience will help someone avoid a mistake that I made. The hotel itself was pleasant. The rooms and service were okay, although the food could have been better. But the biggest thing you need to watch out for is a company that I assume they partnered with, which its called Leading Vacation Club. Within minutes of your arrival, someone will approach you and offer a promotional presentation in exchange for a free hotel amenity, even if you don't accept the promotion. Sounds appealing right? It does if you don't sign anything. If you're thinking "that's your own fault for signing," you're right! But the issue is they sell you something that it is NOT TRUE. They should be called Misleading Vacation Club. Without getting too much into details, they basically offer travel credits at a discounted rate, and also offer you a discount if you stay at The Reef the next time you visit. But once you are given access to their platform, it does NOT reflect their offer. You have 5 BUSINESS days to cancel, BUT they don't send you your log in info until 7 DAYS AFTER YOU SIGN. So please, go enjoy your vacation, even if you choose to attend their promotional presentation, but please don't sign anything. I promise it is NOT worth it, and it is FALSE advertisement. You will save THOUSANDS of dollars."
