"Cacaxtla is such a hidden gem, beautiful murals and fascinating history in a peaceful setting. I definitely recommend getting a guide so you don’t miss all the stories and details. Bring water and a hat too, since it can get hot, and take your time to really enjoy the site. Totally worth the trip!"

"…the rating I give has nothing to do with the site's historical interest; that aspect is wonderful: a civilization located approximately 800 years after Christ, cosmopolitan, warlike, and artistic, yet unnamed. The rating has to do with what interests tourists most: how will they treat me? The site has two entrances; if you're unfortunate enough to enter the wrong one, you'll enter the underworld of "improvised parking," local disputes over unofficial fees, and, above all, the lack of information about the place. You don't see a responsible authority to guide you, there are no guides to explain the richness of the place. If you're coming from another country, it's not worth the detour to this site."
