What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Lučice Beach is praised for its stunning natural beauty, clear turquoise waters, and peaceful cove setting, offering a serene escape. However, it can become extremely crowded during peak season, with limited free space and paid sunbeds dominating the shoreline. While the water is generally pleasant, some areas can be affected by construction or high visitor numbers.
"The beach itself & setting is really beautiful, but as many others have said it's incredibly crowded (even at 10am there is essentially no space to put your things) and it is pretty dirty. They are also building another beach bar at the far end so the far end of the beach the water is gross and there is construction noise/dirt. Some expensive beach bars and umbrellas along the beach if you want this, with the free area squeezed into a corner which I guess will get smaller with the new beach bar when it's completed. Once you get past the first 3/4 meters of children and people in the sea the experience changes and the sea is very nice to swim in, but this is not a relaxing beach to stay on all day during high season."

"Gorgeous beach. Lovely view and clean. It was just annoying that there are so many parasols and people. I wish some beaches were quieter."

"Lučice beach is a great choice, and honestly better than the main beach in Petrovac. It has a more natural feel, and the water is super clean.
It does get crowded, especially in the part where people lay out their towels – there, folks often don't leave much room to pass, which can be a bit annoying. But there’s also a section with sunbeds, and the Barboon café offers them under much better conditions than most beach bars (definitely recommended!).
Once you get past the shallow area, the sea is actually quite calm and not crowded at all. If you bring an air mattress or something to float on, you can really enjoy the open space. Even near the buoys, the depth isn’t too much – you can still see the bottom.
All in all, it’s a great place to spend the day, especially if you want a mix of beach fun and a bit of peace in the water."

The Natural Beauty of Lučice Beach
The surrounding environment contributes significantly to the beach's charm. The scent of pine needles fills the air, creating a refreshing atmosphere, especially during warmer months. This natural ambiance makes it feel like a hidden paradise, distinct from more developed tourist spots.
Many visitors highlight the calmness of the sea once you get past the initial shallow area. This makes it ideal for swimming, floating, and even snorkeling in the clearer sections. The combination of the picturesque cove, the scent of pines, and the inviting water creates a truly idyllic beach experience.
Navigating Crowds and Comfort
To manage comfort, visitors have a few options. Renting sunbeds and umbrellas is common, with prices ranging from €15-€30 for a set. Some beach bars, like Barboon, are noted for offering better conditions for these rentals. Alternatively, bringing your own towels and setting up in the limited free zones is possible, though it requires arriving very early.
Despite the crowds on the sand, the water itself often offers more space. Once you venture a few meters out, the sea becomes less crowded, allowing for a more relaxed swim or float. Bringing an air mattress can help you enjoy the open water. Visiting during the shoulder seasons (May, September) or very early/late in the day during summer can significantly improve the crowd experience.
Exploring Beyond the Sand
For those interested in marine life, the rocky areas around the beach are excellent for snorkeling. Bringing your own snorkel gear allows you to explore the underwater world and discover the marine biodiversity of the cove. This adds an active dimension to a beach day, appealing to those who enjoy more than just sunbathing.
Furthermore, Lučice Beach is part of the charming coastal area around Petrovac. A short walk connects it to Petrovac town, where you can explore its main beach, cafes, and historical sites. Some trails, like the Petrovac-Reževići trail, also pass by or are accessible from the vicinity, offering opportunities for scenic walks.
