Nagi Gompa - a nunnery in the hills outside Kathmandu - and one of the most special stops on our pilgrimages in the Kathmandu Valley. We spend the morning with the nuns — learning and meditating — enjoy a wonderful lunch they prepare for us, and then head on down the trail for a hike to Pullahari monastery ❤️

Here’s a Namaste from Nagi Gompa, a beautiful nunnery located on a hill in a National Park in Kathmandu Valley with no disturbances whatsoever.
Urgyen Tulku Rinpoche founded the monastery and is considered one of the greatest meditation masters of this time. I was here once when I was 20-something, and I remember having this feeling of a special place.

"The nuns perform pujas every morning and afternoon, and also perform longer pujas monthly and annually for the peace, prosperity, and wellbeing of all beings. They conduct sixteen special annual pujas and six daylong pujas every month. The Tara Puja that the nuns perform each morning is unique in its blessings and significance as it is performed under the sacred Tara Bir Cliff."

"Such a serene spot to rest while hiking up or down from Shivapuri Peak/Baghdwar. You can also make this your final destination for a shorter hike and bring your kids along. It's less than an hour’s hike from Muhan Pokhari, or you can drive up with a four-wheeler or two-wheeler. There’s a small shop that serves light snacks and tea."

Deepak Pokhrel

"It’s a nice place to go for the hiking from the Jagdol, it’s about 10 -12 km hike from Jagdol to Jagdol.

The first part of ascend is steep and gradually flat and the last part is steep around 45 min.

If you want to do this hike alone then after Tarebhir you need some one who knows the trail but every step to the Nagi Gumba is worth it.

Best place to go for the weekend."
