"Wortman Pumping Station is a municipal monument near Lelystad Haven. The pumping station dates from 1956 and is still active. It is named after Dr. Hendrik Wortman (1859-1939). Mr. Wortman was director-general of the Zuiderzee Works Department, which was responsible for creating the polders. The pumping station is one of three pumping stations used in the reclamation of the Oostelijk Flevoland polder. On June 27, 1957, Oostelijk Flevoland officially drained.
