What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Rietveld Schröder House as a fascinating and revolutionary architectural masterpiece, particularly highlighting its innovative movable walls and De Stijl design. While some find the entry fee a bit high, most agree it's a must-visit for architecture enthusiasts and a worthwhile trip from Amsterdam.
"I love modernist architecture and this house was a fascinating example. While we were there, one of the guides moved all of the walls so we could see how the open plan looked. It’s a short tram ride and then a 10 minute walk from the Utrecht central station. If you love architecture and design, it’s worth the visit, even on a day trip from Amsterdam."

"Wonderful experience and a fascinating house. It’s worth a side trip from
Amsterdam if you’re interested in 20th century architecture. It is mostly a self-guided tour with an audio player. Make sure you know how it operates before you leave the office to begin the tour. Guides there were very helpful with equipment. It’s worth reading/listening to all the extra bits at each stop. Afterwards we went to the tiny Japanese coffee cafe in back (built in the former garden shed for the house) and it was very good."

"Amazing! It looks like a normal, modern house built yesterday but this one was designed 100 years ago! It definately deserves a WHS designation. Entry at 19 Euro is rather exagurated..."
