What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Pigeon Mountain for its accessible climb and stunning panoramic views, especially at sunset. It's noted as a peaceful, less crowded alternative to more popular Auckland peaks, and its dog-friendly nature is a plus. Some mention the paths can be muddy and slippery, and maintenance could be improved compared to other sites.
"Beautiful little hill in East Auckland. They were renovating the top when we were there, but the fencing didn't go all the way around so we were able to get to the top. It got really dewy in the evening though. It's an easy climb, not very steep. The view from the top is really nice; you can see all the way to the CBD, out into the harbour (Brown's Island is directly to the north) and west towards the Waitakeres. There was a beautiful sunset when I was there. It isn't very busy; my friend and I didn't see anyone else while we were there. Do note that it was a bit muddy, when we weren't on the track, so it may be good to keep that in mind if it has been wet recently."

"Pigeon Mountain is one of the best mountains in East Auckland.
My husband and I went hiking there on 27/1/2024. We enjoyed the magnificent views on the summit and really loved the romantic moments there.
We highly recommend you to go up there to enjoy the amazing views."

"It is a bit sad that this place has not been maintained well like the other famous mountains or other hills around Auckland. It was not Wow looking but if you want to find a quiet place to look at the view. Here is the place that you can count on. This place is dog friendly walking ."
