Sunrise at Cathedral Cove on the Coromandel in New Zealand. This place is jam-packed with crowds during the day but we had the place to ourselves at sunrise and it was worth the 4AM alarm. Exploring the Coromandel area was one of our highlights of the North Island.

"Well worth the walk. 40 minutes from trail head at Hahei car park (but no parking in the summer ... only park and ride). Can get water taxi from Hahei beach for $40 one way each. Or kayak with group also from beach. Great views along the way. Swimming possible especially on other side of the arch. Cafe and toilets on trail. Trail from Hahei beach currently closed due to landfall. Go via road."

"Beautiful, easy hike! We went early in the morning and had the place almost to ourselves! Around 9am is when the majority of people show up. On a sunny day this place is magical!"

"Cool cove. Nice walk.
Good to see the screen saver photo live and in person. Headed early so less people if this matches the tide id recommend early bird. 1 hour before lowest tide was still good.
Walk was more hilly than expected. More ups and more downs than I imagined. I thought id walk up to the bus stop (took us 20mins) then down to the beach. Instead you go back up a hill, round the ww1 memeorail then back down, and back up, then down.
Overall to get there took 45mins. 15mins there and then 45min return. (No rush)"
