Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Bryant Memorial Scenic Reserve for its stunning coastal views and the rewarding access to Ngarunui Beach. The challenging uphill return is noted, requiring a reasonable level of fitness, and parking can be limited. It's a highly recommended short hike for those visiting Raglan.

"In my opinion, Bryant Memorial Reserve is the best place to go for a workout that is not only gorgeous but also rather challenging. There is a little decline at the beginning of the trail, which winds its way through the woodland. After what seems like an eternity, you finally emerge from the underbrush and arrive at this beautiful vantage point, which presents Raglan's wild side. It is at this point when the track narrows and becomes considerably steeper that one arrives at Ngarunui, a well-known surf beach. The main disadvantage of this path is that it requires you to travel uphill at the beginning of the journey. Even while it is not overly steep and I did not have any fatigue after it, you will need to have a reasonable bit of walking fitness in order to manage it. Wheelchairs and pushchairs will not be able to navigate it. It is possible for families with children of school age to have a nice day at the beach because of its handy location. They may even bring a picnic and spend some time lounging on the sand instead of going to the beach. It is strongly suggested that you do out this activity while you are in Raglan."

"Limited parking at the start. Easy 10 minute walk down (600m distance) to the wide beach. 13-15 minutes back up again."
