What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Waikanae Beach is widely praised for its beautiful, sandy shores and family-friendly atmosphere. Visitors appreciate the ample parking and the opportunity to see wildlife, including orcas and diverse birdlife. Some reviews mention occasional water clarity issues after storms, but overall, it's considered a classic and enjoyable New Zealand beach experience.
"Waikanae beach is beautiful. There aren’t stones/pebbles. The water can have moderate waves depending on the weather (boogie boards not surfing). There isn’t a coastguard and dogs are off leash. The boat club isn’t too far away where ski jets and fishing boats can access. Although they’re not supposed to pass certain areas, I’ve seen the odd vehicle drive to the areas where people are. However, it’s a very clean beach, there is plenty of parking at different carparks dotted along. It’s definitely a family orientated vibe but spacious enough to enjoy peace and quiet."

"As good as it gets. Our home beach."

"we visited in a week with several rainy days... I guess that was the reason why the water looked very dirty and there was a lot of wood etc. on the beach - sad because I can imagine how beautiful it is with nice weather :)"
