"What a glorious place to swim, even in early spring time. Ohope Beach is consistently banned New Zealand's favourite beach, and its not surprising. It's a safe swimming beach, a beautiful place to be, and not ever crowded. In the summer there are lifeguards on duty. The added bonus is the plentiful shell fish - tuatua everywhere - just take a bottle to fill with sea water to soak them over night, so they spit out their sand."
