Reviews Summary

Travelers praise the Fæmund II for its charming, historic nature and the breathtaking, fairytale-like scenery of Femunden lake. The polite crew and onboard waffles/beer are highlights, though the food is considered overpriced by many. It's a unique journey, but some find longer trips can be less engaging for children.

"Charming inland ferry. Captain and crew were extremely polite and service minded. The Femund lake offers no major sea and therefore no need to fear waves. Beautiful nature taken out from a fairytale that reminds me of the lord of the rings. This ferry will take you to some of the most remote destinations in Norway. Pricing was stiff, but I guess that's what they need to survive. Been in service for over one hundred years, impressive! Only disappointment was food, unfortunately extremely overpriced and dull. Local brewery did have a good beer. This trip is recommended for anyone wanting to experience something out of the ordinary."

Thomas Meling

"It was really nice to take the ferry. We were on the whole trip. Good waffles, and beer with its own label in the kiosk. They also sold sausage w/bread, and a platter with some local goods (the platter was perhaps a bit expensive compared to what was served).
We brought our own packed lunch that we ate on the trip, and bought drinks on the boat.
We mostly sat on deck and had a lovely view in the sunshine. There were chairs set out. Pleasant crew.
It might be good to know that there is public transport to/from Røros station only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Price of taxi per trip approx. 1200.- according to Røros taxi center when I called and asked.
Free parking, approx. 200m walk to the boat."

"We (2 adults and 3 children; 6, 13 and 15 years old) took the mini cruise between Elgå and Buvika. Very beautiful landscape, fantastic views, but the boat trip itself was a bit boring with just going back and forth. I would have liked to get off the boat for a few hours and then go back. Now we mostly sat on the deck and sunbathed for a couple of hours. Enjoyable of course, but the children got tired quickly. But there are more options. Nice staff. Cost 1400 Nok round trip."
