What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the majestic and powerful nature of Mardalsfossen, especially during its summer water release. The intense mist and challenging hike are noted, but most agree the breathtaking views are well worth the effort. Some find the hike difficult for young children or those less mobile.
"Bring a rain jacket if you plan to follow the trail closer to the falls. The wind and mist soaked us. It was awesome though. Also kiosk has great snacks for post-walk."
Emily
"Loads of bugs, flies in particular, but also some horseflies. Bring DEET spray for a better experience. Steep walk, but easy way back after the well worth it uphill hike. There is a bridge to rest and cool down about 3 quarters of the way up, and it was also windy at the very top. Expect less bugs in these 2 spots. Happy hiking!"
Didrik Berglyd (Diddi)
"A majestic two-stage and powerful waterfall.
Although google maps indicate that you can drive up by car, it is not quite so, from the parking lot you have to walk about a kilometer along an excellent road to a clearing with tables and benches and then you need to make a hike for 10-15 minutes to the waterfall itself. It took us an hour and a half to visit this spot.
Near the waterfall itself is perfectly felt all the power of the water flow - but it is better to go in waterproof clothes, autumn is a lot of splashes."
