Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Trollkirka as a unique and magical natural wonder, praising the stunning marble caves and the impressive waterfall. The challenging hike is considered well worth the effort for the breathtaking views and adventurous cave exploration. Some note the slippery conditions and the necessity of proper gear.

"Hike isn't that bad, I'd estimate 1h30-45 up and 1h15-30 down. I was unprepared in sneakers and jeans without food and it went just fine. However, you need a flashlight in the cave and shoes with good grip. It was very wet and muddy, so hiking boots or sturdy shoes are recommended. The path is clearly marked, and there is a sign at the cave entrance telling you about the cave and the different entrances. About 5 minutes manoeuvring through the cave later, you find yourself at the bottom of a massive waterfall with blue/greenish water. You can stand in the water right below it, which is the only way to get a really good view of the whole waterfall. There is an opening leading up just before the waterfall with a rope attached where it seems like you can ascend to the surface, but it's slippery and quite dangerous. If you go around and over the right of the cave entrance you can descend through that hole, and there is also a ladder that leads to the top of the waterfall in the cave, and into another cave with a second waterfall. If you go even higher, up top is a great place to camp, and you can walk to a very peaceful and quiet lake if you follow the path left. Would be great to swim in summer. All in all, it is just a beautiful place and a great experience. Don't miss it!"

"I climbed up on July 2025, when it was unusually hot weather. Started on 8.30...felt like never-ending rock stairs. Must be vigilant on where place every step. Amazing place. Take torch light and windbreaker. You'll need them in the cave. Unique experience. It's worth every drop of sweat. I'll honor every parent who walks with kids under the age of 10 up and down."

Danijs Boguss

"A pretty challenging but also very rewarding hike! The views only get better the further you go. And the climb through the cave is really adventurous! The rocks were pretty slippery from the rain the last days and the trail muddy but with a good pair of boots is manageable! Also you should bring a headlamp for the cave."
