What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning 360-degree panoramic views from Casino Peak, often comparing them favorably to Bohol's Chocolate Hills. The affordable entrance fee and improved road access are also frequently praised. Some note the hike can be slippery and lacks shade, recommending proper footwear and early morning visits.
"A 45 minute walk from Peakway Mountain Resort and about a 20 minute steep hike to the top from the trailhead. An easy hike if you’re a hiker. A 50 peso per person entrance fee is very reasonable.
The views are actually amazing, from coastline to coastline, with villages and hills in between! Even on a somewhat cloudy day, the hike is so worth it.
I actually think these views are way better than the chocolate hills in Bohol.
Again, we enjoyed the peak without another single person up there!
Definitely recommend if you are in the area."

"Casino Peak is one of the picturesque peaks in Cebu; trekking up the peak is a little bit challenging, but just stop for a while and enjoy the view. As you ascend, cliffs, greens, and never-ending stunning views await your travelling soul. Just be careful at the peak since it's slippery, and the best time to go is during the early morning when the heat of the sun is not too intense and the weather is cool. #BiyaHelton"

"Brilliant.
50 peso entry, no guide needed. About 15-25 minutes up depending on your pace and how much you like to rest. It is not a long hike but it is a bit of elevation and there's no shade in the middle of the day.
You can see the peak where you pay/park and judge for yourself. Perfectly safe walk with good grip on the limestone type rocks when it's dry.
The views here are as good as all the other peaks and the formation itself is more striking and better to look at, complete with the flag at the top.
Didn't get it to myself as it is getting more popular but still there was only about 3 other people here.
Don't worry about the road from Moalboal, the reviews stating it is in a bad state are outdated now. There is only about 300m of "construction" work and that is all on the flat part, no dangerous inclines or declines anywhere to be seen.
The road is fine. You do NOT need to go through Alegria, although it remains an option if you want to anyway (or to check out Cambais falls on the way out).

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
While the views are spectacular, the steepness and potential slipperiness might be challenging for very young children or those not accustomed to walking. Consider bringing plenty of water and snacks, as facilities are basic. The Dalaguete Trilogy might be too strenuous for families with young children, so focusing solely on Casino Peak is recommended.
💰 Budget Travelers
Packing your own water and snacks will save money, as on-site options are limited. The hike itself is free of charge once you pay the entrance fee, and no guide is required, further reducing expenses. This makes it a fantastic value for experiencing stunning natural beauty.
🚶 Solo Adventurers
The relatively short hike means you can easily fit it into a day trip. The stunning panoramic views provide a rewarding experience, and the opportunity to enjoy them without crowds, especially if you go early, can be a peaceful solo pursuit.

The Dalaguete Trilogy: An Epic Hike
While Casino Peak itself is a relatively short hike, tackling all three peaks requires good stamina and an early start. The trails can vary in difficulty, with some sections being steeper and more technical. It's a rewarding experience that showcases the natural beauty of Dalaguete.
Tips for the Trilogy: Start very early, pack ample water and snacks, and wear appropriate hiking gear. Consider hiring a local guide if you're unfamiliar with the routes, especially for the more challenging sections of Kandungaw or Osmeña Peak.
Navigating to Casino Peak: Road and Transport
For those relying on public transport, the common route involves taking a bus from Cebu City to Dalaguete. From Dalaguete town proper, you can hire a habal-habal (motorcycle taxi) to take you directly to the trailhead of Casino Peak. This is a popular and convenient option for solo travelers or couples.
Scooter rental from nearby towns like Moalboal is also a highly recommended option for flexibility and ease of access. It allows you to control your schedule and stop at other points of interest along the way.
The Allure of the Views: Why Casino Peak Stands Out
Many visitors have noted that the scenery here rivals, and some even prefer, the famous Chocolate Hills of Bohol. The unique limestone rock formations at the peak add to the dramatic landscape, creating a visually striking environment. The presence of a flag at the summit often serves as a focal point for photos.
Whether you're an avid hiker or a casual traveler, the effort to reach the top is consistently described as worthwhile, especially when you can enjoy the views without the crowds, which is more likely during off-peak hours.
