As much unpredictable its weather is, I just love Sintra. This time I encountered this mysterious fog and alluring silence while visiting Sanctuary of Peninha, which is by the way a free visit.😉 If lucky, there are beautiful views to enjoy. If spooky, just an impenetrable fog that gives a whole mood.😅 I’m still waiting to find the first scenario once I get there for the third time. . . . . . . #sa...

The most breathtaking viewpoint in Sintra 🧚 📍 Santuário da Peninha This Sanctuary consists of a baroque chapel ⛪️ from 1710, the unfinished Palace of Peninha 🏰 from 1918, and the remains of a hermitage. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to visit the interiors of neither. Which is a shame, because the chapel is said to be decorated with the most stunning Portuguese tiles 🥹 In my opinion, this i...

The hiking opportunities and the chance to see semi-wild animals add to its charm. Some find the journey up challenging and note the lack of amenities, but the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive.

"Haven’t been there for a while and it really surprised me! Beautiful scenery (specially going uphill from Malveira da Serra and a lot to explore on the top of the hill from the old monastery to many walks.
Found out that semi wild horses and cows were introduced there in 2022. Was very nice to see them and explore around even with the fast changing weather."

"Portugal offers lots of opportunities to be close to nature. This time, we decided to explore Sintra with company called Greentrekker for a Sunday walk in the nature reserve. We saw enchanted forest with big stone formations, best views of the valley and ocean, and even visited centuries old woman monastery. Our guide was amazing, passionate about nature, environment and I really loved it. We saw lots of people doing trail running and cycling. Amazing place"
