What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Fragas de São Simão is lauded for its breathtaking natural beauty, with crystal-clear river waters and dramatic rock formations creating a magical atmosphere. Visitors appreciate the refreshing swimming opportunities and the scenic, albeit challenging, walk to access the river. While it can get crowded, exploring further upstream reveals quieter, equally stunning spots.
"Absolutely fantastic river, rocks and very cold swimming in pools! 😎
The walk down and back up is not for the faint hearted when in the heat, but very worthwhile.
Lot's of places to swim, jump around on rocks, jump from rocks and chill.
The walk back up takes some doing, but if you have been in the iced cold water, it's a nice walk, but you don't need a gym leg day afterwards! 😂
Definitely worth a stop! ❤️"

"Beautiful place! For someone who is looking for a peaceful and quit place I would avoid it at least on busy days, but keep in mind that there are spots for everyone along the river, it will be busy on the common spot where people usually take a swim. If you are curious try to pass the rocks, following the river's headwaters, there you'll find a nice frame to take photos! If you pay attention, you'll notice that the rocks along the river felt from the mountains, as you can see some big wholes there."

"Beautiful nature sights, nice places to walk, cosy atmosphere, lots of place to have picnics. Safe to swim!"
