While in Évora (in the Alentejo region of Portugal) we decided to visit the Adega Cartuxa (Cartuxa Winery) and taste a sample of wines and olive oil from the region. Although the tour was fully conducted in Portuguese, we were still able to understand some parts (I guess our Portuguese is coming along 😂). Cartuxa does do tours in English as well, but given our limited time in Évora, we chose the ...

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Adega Cartuxa for its welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and the quality of its wines and olive oils. The terrace provides a pleasant setting for tastings, though some wished it had direct vineyard views. While the focus is on selling wine by the glass, many found it a great way to sample local flavors. Reddit+1

"Nice winery to visit while in Evora. They only serve wine by the glass. They have a large selection to choose from. I perfer dry bold reds and they had a few good ones. There a large terrace you can sit on. I wish the terrace actually faced the vineyard, but it does still have a nice view. The staff were friendly. There is a decent amount of parking. Overall, I would recommend a quick stop!"

Toni Sterling

"Nice winery. They only sell samples by the glass. They have a lot of local choices. Nice terrace to sit and enjoy."

Cori Harper

"Most the focus was on sell us wine and the “taste” offered in the entrance was full glass (paid for by the glass). Would have like to try more options but very small amounts. Asked about the tour to see but said they could not accommodate - seemed to be a language barrier. Would have been happy if we could have seen some of the wine making process - even if it had been self guided."
