"Nice place, it’s a bit creepy to get into that beach but it’s worthy.
I walk thru the tall grass like a scary movie 😆 then I come back climbing a lot of dangerous and solid rocks. Also when I get to my car, I get a $150 police ticket because I “parked on green area “🤷🏻♀️ everywhere it’s green area in this precious beach. So be careful with the parking area!"

"The water here is amazing! The pool has quiet water which is friendly for kids.
No restrooms around here!
The main beach area is very windy and aggressive waves.
Overall, nice spot to visit."

"Let me first start of by saying that getting to the Cueva de las Golodrinas is going to be a short hike from the parking area and the path is barely visible at times. You will find yourself wondering if you're getting closer and the answer is yes but be careful.
Once there at the cave, it is truly amazing and awe inspiring with the cliffs, the waves crashing against the shoreline and the cave itself. You must however, respect the power of the ocean because you can easily get caught up in the current and be taken out. We took a lot of pictures from the picturesque scenery.
Also, some part of the area has lava rocks that are very dangerous so make sure you have a good pair of rubber sole shoes to wear and be careful when you get to the waves because they are powerful. I was knocked down several times and then realized I should get to higher ground. This is definitely a recommend place to visit while visiting Puerto Rico."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
While the sheer scale of the sinkhole is impressive, the powerful waves near the water's edge mean that swimming is generally not recommended for young children. Parents should keep a close eye on their kids and maintain a safe distance from the water. There are limited facilities, so bringing plenty of water, snacks, and sun protection is essential for a comfortable family outing.
🚶 Adventure Seekers
The sheer scale of the sinkhole and the dynamic bird spectacle are awe-inspiring. If you're feeling particularly adventurous and conditions are safe, some might consider exploring the edges of the cave area (with extreme caution and proper gear), but the primary adventure lies in the journey and witnessing the natural phenomena. Always prioritize safety and be aware of the powerful ocean.

The Astonishing Bird Spectacle
This natural wonder is a testament to the power of erosion and geological formation. The sinkhole itself is a karst abyss, formed over millennia by water acting on limestone. Its sheer depth, exceeding 500 meters, makes it one of the deepest natural pits on the planet. The surrounding landscape of the Huasteca Potosina adds to the allure, with lush vegetation and dramatic geological features.
To truly appreciate this event, timing is crucial. Visitors are advised to arrive well before dawn to secure a good viewing spot and witness the full spectacle. Similarly, being present at dusk offers a different, yet equally captivating, experience as the birds settle in for the night. The sheer volume and coordinated movement of the birds are an unforgettable sight, often described as one of Mexico's most impressive natural wonders.
Navigating the Terrain and Safety
Safety is paramount when visiting natural attractions like this. The ocean waves near the cave can be powerful and unpredictable. Visitors are strongly advised to respect the ocean's force and avoid getting too close to the water's edge, especially if conditions appear rough. While the water itself can be inviting, the currents can be strong, and it's not recommended for casual swimming, particularly for children or inexperienced swimmers.
Beyond the immediate cave area, be mindful of your surroundings. Some reviews mention encountering lava rocks which can be sharp and dangerous. Always stay aware of where you are stepping. While there are no restrooms directly at the site, planning ahead by using facilities before you arrive is a good practice.
