Reviews Summary
The Yuryevets Tarkovsky Museum is a deeply personal and historically significant site for admirers of Andrei Tarkovsky, offering authentic exhibits and a glimpse into his childhood. Visitors highly recommend guided tours for a richer understanding, though the surrounding town's development is noted as being incomplete.
"A small memorial house-museum of Tarkovsky, where the director spent his childhood and evacuation. Better with a tour. For admirers of the director's work"

"Andrei Tarkovsky's childhood home. Andrei was evacuated here with his sister, mother, and grandmother. We booked a tour in advance, and our guide, Emma, gave a wonderful tour. We highly recommend it. There are many authentic exhibits, photographs, and letters. In the courtyard are apple trees, a well, and a church wall—symbols of Russia's destruction. Our family traveled from St. Petersburg specifically for this museum."

"You have to be a great film buff or connoisseur, a true admirer of the historical moment. There's nothing impressive about it. For a provincial town like Yuryevets, it's certainly a landmark. But everything around it is very shabby: a square, a bell tower.
The embankment isn't finished yet; you can stroll along it and look at the Volga, but it's still uninviting. There's no port, so you can't sail.
There are either no or few observation decks. It's a fair distance from Ivanovo, 170 km, or a little over two hours by car. A one-time trip, and only then, until they finish it."
