What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Beekeeping Museum Karlovci for its engaging historical tours, particularly the enthusiastic guides who share the rich legacy of the Zivanovic family's winemaking and beekeeping traditions. The wine and honey tasting, often paired with cheese in a 300-year-old cellar, is a highlight. However, a significant drawback is the shop's strict cash-only policy, which has caused embarrassment for some tourists.
"During our our river cruise we were brought to Sremski Karlovski. This beautiful museum was part of the tour. Zivanovic family started wine making in 1770. Over the years the new generation has grown the business with modern technology in wine making. Beside wine the family also started beekeeping in 19thcentury. Their achievement inspired many other Serbian families to start beekeeping as their source of income. The museum was worth seeing for its old furniture, pictures, books and other tools of beekeeping.
Afterwards we were taken to underground 300 years old wine cellar where wines are stored in unchanging microclimatic conditions. It was awesome.
Then we were taken to upper floor where in a big hall we tasted three wines with cheese and honey. A lot of people from our group bought the wine and honey which they liked, from their shop on ground floor. The whole experience was excellent."

"Took a friend from New York to the wine tasting. Everything was excellent until we got to the little shop .......our friend from New York wanted to buy presents for all of us and she bought wine and honey for 18.000 Dinars (USD 180), only to be embarassed in front of everyone. The winery does not take credit cards so she had to borrow money from us to buy the presents. Utter embarrasment. Moreover, the shop did not give her a receipt for what she bought. Will never go there again and make sure my friends know it."
