Reviews Summary

MEIAC Badajoz is widely praised as an underrated gem, lauded for its striking architecture housed in a former prison and its free entry. Visitors appreciate the rotating contemporary art exhibitions from Spain, Portugal, and Latin America, as well as the welcoming and helpful staff. Some find the exhibits less engaging at times, but the frequent rotation ensures new experiences.

"Amazing building and the staff were really sweet at looking after my bike!
A little disappointed with the exhibits but they swap every few weeks. It's free and the staff are very nice"

Stuart Merelie

"One of Badajoz' most underated gems. Housed in what was a prison during the Franco era, this imposing panopticon building hosts four floors of modern art from Spain, Portugal and Latin America. It's worth repeated visits because exhibitions change. there's usually painting, sculptures, photography amongst other forms. The MEIAC does a great job of contextualising their exhibitions and featured artists. Deserves to be an Extremadura must-see much like the Helga de Alvear is in Caceres."

A. Ayres

"The place is amazing - the architecture, the exposition, the staff (i arrived 15 min to closing time but they still let me in). The most impressive is the exhibition of Maria Jose Gallardo. Please do yourself a favor and visit it, it's free"
