Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the spectacular scenery, unique tunnels, and historic charm of the Vía Verde de la Jara, calling it an exciting experience for cyclists and hikers. However, many point out a significant lack of maintenance, particularly in the tunnels and along the tracks, which detracts from its potential. Reddit

"Expectacular"

Juan Amadeo Sánchez López

"An exciting experience whether you go by bike, as I did, from 9 km in Calera to almost the end, an 80 km round trip. There are numerous tunnels that must be navigated with lights; some are very long, including one about 900 m long where water drips from the ceiling and there are many bats. There are a number of beautiful stone bridges, and you cross a spectacular bridge over a river that accompanies you for almost the entire journey, crossing from one side to the other. Abandoned stations and trains. Slate walls that in some places fall onto the path, and weeds that try to cover the tracks. And if you're lucky, like I was when I went, you might see weasels crossing."

Francisco Tdc

"A greenway of over 50 km. Marvelous scenery, especially in spring. But at any time of year, except for the hottest months, it's highly recommended. It could use more maintenance, but that doesn't take away from its charm. Holm oak groves, streams, mountains, meadows with sheep... everything. Spring, after the rains, is spectacular with the blooming rockrose and lavender. A delight for the senses and the eyes. Bring supplies and water, as there are few villages in the area. Uncrowded, a luxury for peace and quiet."
