Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate Wat Suwan Khiri Khet for its accessibility and peaceful atmosphere, offering a serene escape in Karon. The striking Naga staircase is a frequent highlight, providing a visually appealing cultural experience. While some find it a smaller temple, its convenience and respectful environment make it a worthwhile visit for those seeking a touch of local spirituality.

"The temple area is quite large. There are four main buildings here - a small building located in the center of the square, where, traditionally, it is customary to pray and leave offerings to Buddha, whose statue, by the way, is made of black sapphire and is guarded by two characters from the famous ancient Indian epic. Nearby there is an oval building where firecrackers are set off, which scare away evil spirits.

There is a kho-rakan (bell tower) on the square, you cannot climb it. At its top there is a bell, which is struck on major holidays, as well as at the beginning and end of prayers!

The temple was built in 1895 and not so long ago it underwent a complete restoration, which is why the buildings here look fresh, bright and attractive.

"We visited the temple on Budh Purnima. It was quite a surreal experience. A very peaceful experience."

Nalin Goel

"It is a Buddhist temple, with a couple of beautiful buildings.
Unfortunately, it has become more of a marketplace rather than a temple."
